I have a confession to make. Monster movies are a guilty pleasure of mine. Nothing like a paper thin plot wrapped around a bunch of gore! Only one thing can be better, seeing it all in 3D! Shark Night 3D isn’t this generation’s Jaws, heck it probably won’t even be this generation’s Deep Blue Sea, but it still looks awesome. Now before you go calling me a madman, you have to take these types of movies at face value. If you’re able to do that, you’ll have a good time. Trailer and full synopsis after the break.
No you don’t have double vision and no it’s not Twin Day! Marvel fans meet Deathstroke. DC fans meet Deadpool. These two dudes are very much similar, but come from different universes. If you know your history, you’ll probably know that Deathstroke showed up about eleven years before Deadpool. However the “merc with a a mouth” has a huge following of his own. Be sure to cast your vote and leave a comment letting us know who kills who in an all out fight to the finish.
I actually first heard mention of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides some years ago. At the time I was working for a bank that shall remain nameless and one of my clients was a prop maker in the motion picture business. Having a casual chat that some how landed on the Pirates of the Caribbean series, he said “I’ve worked on Pirates 2, 3, and 4.” I couldn’t help but respond with “there’s gonna be a fourth one?” Yeah, so that was my first experience. In any event I forget when it was formally announced that the movie was officially being made, but remember thinking we might have a problem when it was announced that Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley would not be returning. Johnny Depp has an awesome range, but I wasn’t too sure that the Jack Sparrow character had enough chops to carry a film alone. Now that they’ve torn our tickets and taken our money. We’ve decided to take a little time and talk about the movie. We’ll try to keep things spoiler free, but we’re not responsible for the comments of others.
Yesterday Warner Bros announced that they had officially started shooting The Dark Knight Rises, but other than that it was a pretty boring press release. In addition to that they also launched the films official website, which is pretty much a black page with audio of some really bizarre chanting and that’s about it. So after some insane digging, a fan was able to pull an image source from the site’s audio file. Yes, we know this sounds crazy, but this resulted in the uncovering of what is now the first image of Tom Hardy as Bane. We’ve seen it, now it’s your turn! Hit the jump to see what Batman will be up against.
If ever there was to be a new Wizard of Oz flick being made, it would take a unique cast to get it done correctly. It appears that Sam Raimi has a major understanding of this concept. So far Oz, The Great and Powerful has a solid squad of talent: James Franco (The Wizard), Mila Kunis (Theadora aka the Wicked Witch of the West), and Rachel Weisz (Evanora aka the Wicked Witch of the East). So we were left wondering who would be Glinda? Gotta have a good witch right? Variety has now confirmed that Michelle Williams will be Glinda! So the stage is set for Franco and Williams vs Kunis and Weisz. This film is really starting to get on our good side. Filming is set to start in July and hopefully we’ll see this one on the big screen around the 2012 holiday season.
In another effort to further their quest to dominate your home entertainment experience, Netflix has just put together a deal with Miramax. Rumored to cost the company with all of those red envelopes around $100 million. This will bring an even larger amount of content to their instant stream service. Miramax has a deep library of movies and most of the beloved Quentin Tarantino collection. Rumored to be a five year deal, you can expect your Instant Queue to put on a little weight around this time next month. Full press release after break.
We’ve done our share of crossover battles, but this one seems like a pretty well balanced showdown. Both Blanka and Beast are extremely strong and agile. We know that Beast is the smarter of the two, but don’t count the green guy out. Blanka has his a few electric surprises. We’d love to know your thoughts on this battle. Be sure to vote and leave a comment telling us what swayed your decision.
As an 80′s baby I got to see some of the best popcorn horror flicks ever made. One of the best of it’s time was good old Fright Night. So of course in today’s age of “hey let’s make a 3D remake!” DreamWorks has decided to do just that. The new Fright Night was shot in 3D and expected to carry an R rating. Your cast includes: Colin Farrell (Jerry Dandrige), Anton Yelchin (Charley Brewster), Toni Collette (Judy Brewster), Imogen Poots (Amy Peterson), and Christopher Mintz-Plasse (Evil Ed). We still want our remake of Silver Bullet with a Gary Busey cameo, but this will have to do for know. Trailer waiting for you after the break, be sure to watch it with the lights on!
Aside from Adrianne Palicki being good looking, everything related to Wonder Woman as a television series was pretty much considered toxic waste. The costume looked like a naughty girl Halloween costume and not something DC would approve of. Even the test pilot screenings were poorly received by different audiences. All this negativity has resulted in NBC finally deciding to drop the series completely. It’s being rumored that Warner Bros might try to shop the show elsewhere, but the going word is no one was ever really interested in the first place. We can’t help but feel bad for Ms. Palicki. Can you really blame any young actor or actress for accepting the role of a world famous superhero? In her defense, the general word is that she did a good job, but the show was just poorly done. Perhaps we’ll see a revamp someday down the line?
If there was ever a country named “Bad-Ass,” Harrison Ford’s picture would be printed on its money. We’ve decided to take two of his most iconic characters and have a fanboy dream match. If both universes were to collide, we’d like to know who gets the win? Please be sure to cast your vote and leave a comment letting us know whose side you’re on.
