LG E60 LED Monitor Review

Gaming, web surfing, TV, and movie watching are everyday activities here at Spantechular. So what you’re viewing your media on can be a major game changer. We managed to get some time with LG’s 23″ E60 LED monitor and put it to the test in all the above mentioned areas of entertainment. For starters let’s take a look at some of the E60′s specs: 16:9 aspect ratio, a 1920 x 1080p resolution, 5,000,000:1 contrast ratio, 170º viewing angle. As far as connections and inputs: D-Sub, DVI-D, HDMI, and a headphone output. All these bells and whistles sound like they’ll meet your needs, but when put to the test how do they hold up?

When taking a look at the E60 the fist thing you’ll notice is it’s sexy slim design. The monitor fits just about anywhere, making it ideal for an office, game room, even a TV replacement. When connecting the display to it’s stand it weighs a bit over 6 1/2 pounds. So relocating the display until you find the perfect spot won’t be much of a hassle. I used and recommend a gaming setup. Connecting the display to a desktop and game console gives the user the best of both worlds. Picture quality on the E60 is incredible! Colors really pop, and images are razor sharp, nearly leaping off the screen. Above the base of the stand there is a blue light that engages when the display is turned on. This adds a touch of class to the setup especially when you turn down the room’s lights while viewing a movie or TV show. I watched Avatar on blu ray and The Matrix on HD DVD on this display and just remained in awe at all of the detail. It felt like I was watching the films for first time. I also browsed the web in all it’s glory and made it a point to put every video I watched in fullscreen and it’s highest resolution. Even the internet felt like a new experience when being watched on the E60. The E60 is comparable to pretty much any high-end HDTV, the only difference is enhanced features like web apps and external speakers. This is something to consider if being used as a TV replacement.

In the end LG pretty much had every media buff in mind. Toss in a good set of speakers and the E60 pretty much covers all of your needs. It’s even Energy Star compliant, so your electric bill shouldn’t see much of a difference. The only way we couldn’t recommend this display is if you’re in the market for a big screen TV. Priced at around $300 or less, this is practically a must by. Trust me, your desktop and game consoles will thank you for picking one of these up. I must warn you that your living room TV may get a little jealous.

Final Verdict: 9.75 out of a possible 10
