Are you planning on picking up a Motorola Atrix next week? Guess what? In typical Android fashion it’s been rooted already! Those sneaks over at XDA already have a forum thread running with all the gory details. If successful, you’ll come away with a plethora of features available to root users. Now before you go slapping each other high fives, we must warn that the bootloader is still locked down. So for those of you dreaming of Vanilla Android on your powerful new hardware, keep dreaming. Motorola has a history of keeping things locked pretty tight, but remember the phone has already been partially cracked, so you never know.
It has now been confirmed by AT&T’s PR that the Motorola Atrix 4G will hit AT&T stores on February 22nd, for the price of $199. Pre-orders for the handset will ship on February 21st. Nothing beats getting a new toy early! In case you’re wondering what the Atrix 4G brings to the table (where have you been?), you can expect: a dual-core 1GHz Tegra 2 processor, a 4-inch qHD touchscreen display, 1GB of RAM and Android 2.2.
Most decent smartphones get a follow-up, so this was only a matter of time. The alleged Droid X 2 specs are as followed: 1.2GHz single-core CPU, and 768MB of RAM, 4.3-inch WVGA display, 8-megapixel cam, Android 2.3, and of course MOTOBLUR. Sadly no word on LTE. We’re guessing this one was already in the works before the 4G push hit Big Red? Word is that we’ll see something around Q2 of this year. If these stats are in fact real, we’re not too sure why Moto didn’t load this one up?
A Best Buy web listing had the internet and a lot of potential Motorola Xoom buyers in a bit of a panic earlier today. You see the ad listed the Honeycomb powered tablet at a price tag of $1,199. That would make it the price of two iPads. At about $200 bucks past $1,000, or “a cool G,” as we say back home. It also informed us that pre-orders were ready as of Thursday February 17th. Everyone can now relax! As what we’ve thought has now been confirmed. The Xoom won’t cost you as much as your new notebook. That was just a filler price and the Android tablet will run you $800. Since the Best Buy ad has completely disappeared from their website, we’re not even too sure that you’ll be able to start your pre-order. You can always call your local Best Buy this Thursday and ask if they’re taking reservations.
We’re all juiced up about the soon to be released Motorola Xoom Android tablet, which so far appears to be exclusive to Verizon, at least here in the US. There has been endless speculation about the first official Honeycomb device also having a WiFi only version at some point soon, but so far no official word from Motorola. Now as far as other territories, it appears that they’ll be getting a different flavor of Xoom. The video below shows off a GSM silver version of the Xoom, SIM card slot and all! It also makes mention of a WiFi only version coming as well. This video hails from Dubai, so we’re not too sure if a GSM Xoom will find its way stateside, but after seeing this we’re left hoping for at least a few more options.
The world wide web has been flooded with rumored Xoom and Thunderbolt release dates, but Best Buy has shed some light on things just a bit. The mega retailer has posted on their Facebook page that the Verizon LTE Thunderbolt will be arriving to their stores on February 14th, hey that’s Valentine’s day and a day after the HTC Inspire hits AT&T. Now before you get to planning your big pick up, there’s more news here! The long awaited Motorola Honeycomb powered Xoom tablet will be on sale on February 24th. With the release of the iPhone 4, LTE Thunderbolt, and Xoom, this looks like the biggest month in Verizon’s history. No official prices or plans just yet, but we expect them to follow soon.
After an amazing showing at CES the Motorola has released a video showcasing its new super phone the Atrix 4G. The dual-core powered handset shows off its laptop and media docks, and a taste of its gaming abilities. Besides that this colorful upbeat video makes us feel good.
We’ve seen it teased, now it’s here! Motorola just made their Honeycomb powered tablet, now known as the Xoom official. We know it’s Verizon bound and features: a dual-core processor, 1GB internal RAM, 10-inch widescreen, rear (5MP camera w/LED flash ) and front facing cameras, HDMI output of up to 1080p full HD video playback, all powered by Android 3.0. Did we mention it’s LTE ready? We’ll have more as things continue to develop.
T-Mobile just keeps on racking up Android handsets. The peeps at CellPhoneSignal have dished what is said to be the new Motorola Cliq 2. The second gen Cliq is said to be loaded with: 5MP camera, full QWERTY keyboard, and a new version of MotoBlur. Now as far as rumors go the handset might be packing: Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), WiFi calling, and HSPA+. We’ll be buddying up with Motorola at CES next week and we’ll definitely keep our eyes open for this new addition.
