So both of these guys are pretty bad dudes. For years they’ve tried to take down two of Nintendo’s most iconic characters. We’re wondering who would get the win if they were to take on each other? Ganon is a master swordsman and Bowser is a fire breathing turtle (yep he’s not a dragon!). Be sure to cast your vote and leave a comment telling us who gets your vote.
We focus our faceoffs on a lot of big named characters, but what about their supporting cast? This time we’ve taken two popular sidekicks and placed them in a toe to toe battle. It really isn’t about who wins in a fight between the two. It’s more of a question of who is the better sidekick? If you were about to go on a major adventure who would you want watching your back? While making an appearance on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, Nintendo’s Reggie Fils-Aime shared a few upcoming titles. For starters Reggie showed some Kid Icarus AR gameplay, then showed a taste of Skyward Sword. As you’ll most likely be able to tell from Jimmy Fallon’s enthusiasm the games are pretty cool. Of course Reggie had to close things out with a touch of the new Wii U and this time the console got a little face time! The Focus was still on the controller, but hey at least the machine was there. Though he didn’t give up an official release date, he did say that the new system will release after April 2012. So by our count, we’d expect to see something released either just before or immediately after 2012′s E3. Oh and here’s a little spoiler, Reggie gave everybody in attendance a copy of Ocarina of Time 3D. Check out the energetic video after the break.
Keeping things more than sexy, Converse has done it again! The shoe company has released more Super Mario themed collectible Chuck Taylor’s. These shoes are so awesome you can’t help but smile when you see them. Pictured above are a pair of high-tops wrapped up in level 1-1 from the original Super Mario Bros. We’ve also tossed in a pair featuring Mario’s nemesis Koopa and a shot of the awesome box that these bad boys come in. Scheduled for an August release, they’re only gonna officially be available in Japan, but of course you can work your internet mojo to import a pair or two. Addition images after the break.
It’s the Sunday after E3 and two big announcements seemed to soak up all the attention of the showroom floor and gamers across the globe. The PS Vita was first to bat and Sony showed a strong campaign for their next-gen handheld. Not to be outdone by the competition Nintendo took stage last and officially revealed their upcoming console efforts. Both platforms look extremely promising and a tidal wave of developers have promised support for both. We’ve spent our share of time with both and have our impressions, but we wanted to ask you. If you could get your hands on a completed retail version of either system, games and all, which one would it be? Be sure to vote and leave a comment letting us know what led to your decision.
Aside from a terrible name, the Nintendo Wii U came off as pretty impressive. However there were a few things that we noticed that got our attention. The Wii U console itself was hardly shown during Nintendo’s announcement videos. Most of the focus was on the system’s unique controller and the way it interacted with the console and doubled as a display when within range of the Wii U. Nintendo has a history of taking advantage of gimmicks and the tablet-like controller looks mighty suspect, but after soaking up some action with the tech demos on the showroom floor, we couldn’t help but be intrigued. The big N stayed pretty mum regarding actual hardware specs, but their closing video showed multiple game developers pledging their support for Wii U and praising it as a new and exciting platform. We’d also like to note that some of the games announced for the future console are scheduled to release late this year and early next year on both Xbox 360 and PS3. Could this be a hint that we’d see an early 2012 release for the Wii U, in order to stay on par with its competition? Take a look at the things to come for Nintendo’s step into the HD realm. Wii U support lineup video after the break.
We’re all seated and waiting for things to kick off, the WiFi here is really suspect! We’ll do our best to make due with hotspots and tethering apps. After yesterday’s Sony PS Vita price point announcement, could we be hearing a possible 3DS price drop? Also what the heck is the name of the new console on the way? We’ll find out in a few minutes! Be sure to hit the jump and keep on refreshing after!
With the biggest show in gaming merely hours away, we can’t help but feel a bit of the electricity in the air. Starting next week, console gaming’s big three will be revealing their hands to the rest of the world and show what’s in store for the future of gaming. As each show comes to a close there’s always the debate of who had the best showing out of the bunch. So before we even begin to deal with that madness, we’d like to ask who do you think will have the best showing at E3? The final conference is from Nintendo on Tuesday June 7th, so for the sake of relevance, we ask that you vote some time before or during this event. We welcome your fanboy/fangirl antics.
Just in time for their E3 press event, Nintendo will be updating the 3DS on June 6th. The new firmware bump will be serving up the addition of an internet browser and Nintendo’s eShop. 3DS owners will also score a free copy of the NES classic Excitebike, which will be remastered in 3D. Nintendo has committed to adding new content every Thursday starting with Super Mario Land, Alleyway, and Radar Mission. Full press release after the break.
Not going to E3, but want some play by play action from Nintendo’s official E3 press conference? Nintendo has just announced that they’ll be streaming their press conference on the web. The big media event will start on June 7th at 9AM PDT. They’re also making mention of broadcasting exclusive content via the Nintendo Channel, which is accessible to just about anybody with a Wii connected to the internet. Now that we know you’ll be watching, we’re working on something witty to shout out during the show to show that we’re thinking of you guys. Full press release after the break.
