Xperia Play Finally Gets a Verizon Release Date

After months of waiting and a run of oddball commercials, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play finally has a stateside release date. May 26th will be the day that Verizon customers can pick up the PlayStation certified smartphone for a price of $200 on a two-year contract. If you’d like to put your money up in advance, you can pre-order this bad boy starting May 19th. Full press release after the break.

Xperia Play Coming This March to Verizon, No Exact Date Just Yet (Video)

We knew it was real. We knew it was coming, but we didn’t know when and where. Now that’s all changed, well sorta. The Xperia Play handheld which Joe Q. Public likes to refer to as the PlayStation Phone will be hitting retail this March and appears to be exclusive to Verizon, at least for the time being. As far as official specs go here is what you can expect from the first PlayStation certified smartphone: 1GHz Snapdragon processor, Adreno GPU, Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) , 5-megapixel camera(LED flash), 8GB microSD, and stereo headphones. The Xperia Play will also come pre-loaded with Asphalt Adrenaline 6, Bruce Lee, Star Battalion, The Sims 3, Tetris, and will ship with an additional 50 titles at launch. So we know you’re completely sold, but there’s one catch, no exact date (just March for now) and no price yet. Be sure to check out the promo video, which will only further excite you. Let the propaganda begin!

PlayStation Phone AKA Zeus-Z1 Gets a Clear View (Video)

After a ton of speculation and blurry cam videos, the Zeus aka PlayStation Phone finally gives us a clear close up video. Not too sure if this is a final build, but it looks darn good. If you look close enough you’ll notice a PlayStation symbol on the handset’s menu. Hopefully Sony will show us something come CES? Did we somehow forget to mention this thing is running Gingerbread?

PlayStation Phone Gets Sneak Cam (Video)

Unicorns are real! The mythical PlayStation Phone has been outed and captured on video! We’re not too sure if this is finished product (probably not), but at least we’ve got something to actually look at. If you look really closely you’ll also notice that the handset’s 4-inch screen is running Android 2.3. It seems fitting with a codename like Zeus, the phone would show up in Greece of all places. We warn, we’re not responsible for the soundtrack to this video.

The PlayStation Phone Just Got Real

Before you start doing the happy dance this isn’t a PSP2. This is the PlayStation Phone something completely different. The PS Phone is said to most likely run Android 3.0 and sport it’s own PlayStation Store-like Marketplace to purchase and download games for the new handset. As far as hardware goes it’s said that the phone features a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8655 processor, 1GB of ROM, 512MB of RAM, multitouch touch pad, and a near 4-inch display. The image above is said to be just a prototype, so nothing is final like the lack of memory slots, analog sticks, or a front facing camera, so don’t freak out! There is no release information but we’re hearing spring 2011. This just might put a damper on Nintendo’s 3DS launch.
